Constantine (Gus) Avgerinos passed away peacefully with his family by his side on

November 17th, 2016.

Gus is survived by his wife Niki, his children, Evan (Mary), Don (Helen), his

grandchildren Dean, Perry, Niki, Markos, and Alexander, his sister Sophia Tombros, and

many nephews, and nieces. He is predeceased by his father Evan, mother Lucy,

brother Spiros, sister Eleni Riganas. He met his childhood sweetheart Niki when she

was 16 and they recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

Gus was born March 10th, 1937 on the island of Corfu, Greece and came over to the

U.S. in 1959 where he started work as a photographer in Boston where his grandfather

had lived, and then quickly enrolled in the U.S. Army where he earned the expert badge

and sharpshooter medals for the M-1 rifle. After an honorable discharge he co-owned a

restaurant in center city Philadelphia, and thereafter bought his own successful

restaurant on the Main Line (The Conestoga Mill), and eventually sold it and retired in

1990.

He was a long time member of the St. George Cathedral in Philadelphia, serving many

years as board president, and additionally served as president of the St. George Senior

House, a facility that provides affordable housing for seniors.

Gus was most proud being a father, grandfather, and loving husband who enjoyed

mostly spending time with his family raising and nurturing all of his loved ones. He will

be deeply missed but never forgotten.

His funeral service will be 10am, Wednesday, November 23rd at St. Sophia’s

Greek Orthodox Church 900 S. Trooper Rd., Norristown, Pa. 19403. Father Peter J. Thornberg will be the celebrant. Interment at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge Park,

and a celebration luncheon to be held thereafter at Maggiano’s in King of Prussia, PA.

All friends, family, and those who knew him are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to St. Sophia’s Church, 900 Trooper road,

Norristown, PA 19403.
