Harriett Adele Winborne (formerly Hall), of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the age of 64. She was recently retired from the Philadelphia Regional Office of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Harriett was born in Barbados and attended St. Leonard's Girls' Secondary School St. Michael, Barbados. After graduating, she worked for many years at Mansour-Matouk Barbados Ltd, a fabric store on Swan Street, and later at Cave Shepherd department store in Bridgetown.

As a teenager, she became a member of James Street Methodist Church. She sang in the Junior Choir and was an active member of the Wesley Guild, a mid-week fellowship for young men and women who were at least 16 years old. During those years she enjoyed various activities with guild members.

In 1978 Harriett moved to the United States and settled in New York. She worked for NYC Department of Finance. Eventually she got married and raised her son Kelvin. Several years later she relocated to Philadelphia, PA.

In Pennsylvania, she joined New Life United Methodist Church and was a part of the Ministry of Blessing. She was also involved in  her community's Democratic political scene as a volunteer.

Harriett was thoughtful, kind, soft-spoken and possessed a quality that endeared people to her, even strangers. She possessed a quiet strength and determination that helped her to navigate the challenges she faced in her life. Those who knew her well were also familiar with her hearty laughter as well as the sharp-tongued personality that could pop up if you got on her wrong side.

She leaves to mourn her loving son Kelvin, her two sisters, Monica Gibbs(NY) and Sandra Williams(Barbados), Hermas Haynes, Kelvin's godfather, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
