Pope Christie, 87, died peacefully on August 25, 2015.  She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas.  Loving mother of Peter (Elaine).  Devoted grandmother of Stephen, Jaclyn and Peter. Also survived by sisters Kassiani Araouzou and Christalla Klaudiou. Predeceased by her daughter Mary and grandchildren Jenny and Nicholas.

Pope was very active in the Greek community. Along with her husband she was one of the founding members of her beloved St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church.  She was an active member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society chairing the St. Luke’s Name Day luncheons for many years. In the months leading up to the Greek Affair, Pope could be found in the church kitchen baking away with her many friends.  Pope’s joy was entertaining and enjoying the company of her close friends and relatives.  Always the baker, there seemed to be a freshly made pan of baklava ready to come out of the oven.

Her children and grandchildren brought her great joy and were the loves of her life. With a positive outlook she saw the good in everything and encouraged her children to do the same. Her kind words and warm smile were calming and reassuring. Being such an integral part of their lives, each one of her grandchildren had a special bond that they will cherish forever.

Steadfast in her faith, Pope never wavered from her strong Christian beliefs. She practiced forgiveness, never holding a grudge and loved unconditionally.

Her Funeral Service will be 11AM Friday at St. Luke Church Greek Orthodox Church in Broomall.  Viewing: one hour prior to service in the church.  Internment: Edgewood Memorial Park In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
