Anthony "Tony" Vellios Obituary

Anthony Vellios passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 22 at the Winds At Mattern Orchard at the age of 94. He was born June 16, 1924 in  Ny, Ny to George and Victoria ( Mary). Vellios. He married the love of his life, Mary Koletas, on October 26, 1947.  They spent 69 happy years together. He is survived by three children George, Charles (Barbara), Vicki (Tim), five grandchildren Marcela(Mark), Rachel(Dave), Teresa (Rudy), Colin and Daniel and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Olga Onorato, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary, son Anthony, sister Irene and brother John.

He was a proud Marine veteran who served during World War II in Okinawa, Japan and the occupation of China.

He was a food service manager for many years and before retirement was a chef which he truly enjoyed, and was well known for his fabulous soups.

Tony, as he like to be called, had numerous interests and hobbies including landscaping and gardening, wood carving, cooking and watching movies- especially John Wayne movies.  He loved being with his family and would do anything for them. He was our hero.

His funeral service will be Friday February 1, 2019 at the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Luke, 35 North Malin Road, Broomall, Pa. 19008. Viewing one hour prior to service in the church.
