Athena Pappas passed away peacefully on December 16, 2019, at the age of 88. She was born on August
29, 1931 in Philadelphia. Earlier on in life, during her late teens, she met her husband, Peter Pappas.
They soon got married and started their beautiful life. They ran multiple successful restaurants together
in Philadelphia, working hard to provide for their family and the experiences they enjoyed in life.
Together, they raised three sons Teddy, Michael and Nicky. Spending time with family and friends,
traveling and cooking were three of Athena’s most treasured passions. With strong faith, she worked
very hard all her life to keep her family strong and together, despite the loss of her husband and son
earlier on in life. Her children and grandchildren were truly her greatest pride and joy. She enjoyed all of
the many adventures she had with her grandchildren, whether they were in Florida visiting family, or
home in Philadelphia; and never missed a beat. Athena is survived by her brother Chris Macatsoris, her
two sons Teddy and Nicky, her two daughter in-laws Betsy and Janet; and her three grandchildren
Valante, Peter and Alexis. She is predeceased by her husband Peter, and her son Michael.
Friends and family are invited to her viewing on Thursday, December 19th taking place from 10am to
11am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby, PA 19082. Her funeral service will be to
follow at 11am. Interment following at Fernwood Cemetery, Lansdowne, PA 19050.
