Constantine (Gus) Kergides was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. on April 12, 1929, and passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Tuesday morning, Nov. 12, 2019. Went to Bartram High School, where he excelled playing football. After graduating he played semi-pro ball in Philadelphia as a tight end for 2 years. He attended Drexel University until he was drafted in the U.S. Army becoming an M.P. during the Korean War. After coming home from the service in 1954, he met and married the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, before her death in June. Soon afterwards, he starting working at the Philadelphia Navy Yard until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed life, the arts and was active in sports. He loved traveling to his favorite places in Greece and Arizona. He was a kind, selfless and loving man who was loved deeply by his children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Constantine was the beloved husband of the late Michilina. Loving father of Daughter Michele (Rob) and Son Constantine (Joan). Devoted grandfather of Bill, Allison, Nick and Dane.
His funeral services will be 11 am Friday November 15, 2019 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 E. Forge Rd. Media, Pa. 19063. Friends and family are invited to attend his viewing Friday Morning from 10 am to 11 am in the church.
Interment will be in Edgewood Memorial Park, 325 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, Pa.
