Garabed K. Semerdjian

Garabed Khachadour Semerdjian entered into his eternal rest on December 17, 2018. Garabed was born on October 25, 1936 in Gedaref, Sudan and lived there until he was nine years old when his mother passed away. Him and his brother were sent to boarding school at Comboni College in Khartoum, Sudan. He spent his time in school as a passionate learner and dedicated soccer and basketball player, and coach of the Armenian girls volleyball team.

During his time in Khartoum he met and married the love of his life Satenig Lussinian and had their first daughter Nevart (Rose). In 1967, he immigrated with his family to the United States to provide them a better life. In 1971, Garabed and Satenig had their second daughter Sophia. Garabed spent most of his career as a building supplies manager in Philadelphia. When he wasn’t working, he was spending his time with family and friends. He loved to tell stories, dance, and always had to be the best dressed. He took pride in his Armenian culture and was devoted to instill the love and beauty of it in any person that he came across.

Garabed “Garo” K. Semerdjian is predeceased by his parents Khachadour and Nevart and older brother Haroutoun who passed away at an early age of eighteen years old. He is survived by his loving wife Satenig Lussinian Semerdjian of 58 years, his children Nevart Saklarian (Neshan), Sophia Ingram (Daniel), and will be fondly remembered by his four grandchildren, Talin, Garo, Satenique, and Leah. Garabed will also be forever remembered by his extended family and dear friends, and his faithful granddog and companion Brady.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service, followed by a luncheon which will be held at 11am on Friday, December 28th at St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, 8701 Ridge Avenue Philadelphia, PA.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Children of Armenia Fund(COAF) in memory of Garabed K. Semerdjian.

Կարապետ (''Կարօ'') Սէմէրճեան իր յաւիտենական հանգիստը մտաւ 17 Դեկտ. 2018-ին:  Ծնած էր 25 Հոկտ. 1936-ին՝ Սուտանի Կետարեֆ քաղաքը, ուր մնաց մինչեւ իր 9 տարեկան հասակը՝ երբ մահացաւ իր մայրը, որմէ ետք իր եղբօր հետ որպէս գիշերօթիկ ուսանող ուղարկուեցաւ Սուտանի մայրաքաղաք՝ Խարթումի «Քոմպոնի Քոլէճ»ը:  Այնտեղ պատանի Կարօն դարձաւ անյագ սորվող մը, եւ նուիրեալ մը՝ ոտնագնդակի ու պասքեթպոլի, եւ մարզիչը՝ տեղւոյն հայ աղջկանց «վոլիպոլ»ի խումբին:
Խարթումի մէջ իր կեցութեան ժամանակ Կարօն ծանօթացաւ եւ ամուսնացաւ իր կեանքի հոգեհարազատին՝ Սաթենիկ Լուսինեանի հետ:  Երիտասարդ ամուսինները  շուտով բախտաւորուեցան իրենց առջինեկ դուստրով՝ Նուարդ-Րոզիկով, որ ծնաւ ի Խարթում:  1967-ին Կարօն իր ընտանիքին բարօր ապագայ մը ապահովելու տեսլականով ընտանեօք գաղթեց Միացեալ Նահանգներ:  1971-ին Կարապետ եւ Սաթենիկ բախտաւորուեցան իրենց երկրորդ աղջնակով՝ Սոֆիայով:
Միացեալ Նահանգներու մէջ Կարապետի աշխատեցաւ գլխաւորապէս որպէս շինանիւթերու ընկերութեան մը տնօրէն:  Իսկ աշխատանքի ժամերէն ետք՝  ան կը սիրէր իր ժամանակը անցընել իր ընտանիքին ու բարեկամներուն հետ:  Կը սիրէր յատկապէս՝ պատմել,  պարել, եւ վայելչօրէն հագնիլ:  Հպարտ էր իր հայկական ծագումով ու հայ մշակոյթով, որուն գովքն ու սէրը յատուկ կիրքով կը ջանար փոխանցել իր շրջապատին եւ առ հասարակ որո՛ւ որ հադիպէր:
Կարապետ Սէմէրճեանի ծնողքը՝ Խաչատուր եւ Նուարդ՝ մահացած են տարիներ առաջ, իսկ իր երէց եղբայր՝ Յարութիւնը մահացած է 18 տարեկան երիտասարդ հասակին:
Սգակիրներն են՝ իր 58 տարիներու ամենաթանկագին ու սիրելի կինը՝ Սաթենիկը, աւագ դուստր Նուարդը եւ ամուսինը՝ Նշան Սագլարեան, կրտսեր դուստր Սոֆիան եւ ամուսինը՝ Տանիէլ Ինկրամ, ինչպէս նաեւ իր չորս թոռները՝ Թալին եւ Կարօ Սագլարեանները, եւ Սաթենիկ ու Լէա Ինկրամները:
Զինք միշտ պիտի յիշեն իր սիրելի՝ մօտաւոր ու հեռաւոր ազգականներն ու բարեկամները, ինչպէս նաեւ ընտանիքի հաւատարիմ ընկեր ու բարեկամ շունը՝ Պրէյտին:
