Helen Azar (Ghazi), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, surrounded by family and friends at Lankenau Medical Center, just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was 77. May her memory be eternal.
Mrs. Azar was born on August 8, 1941 in the village of Bsarma in the northern Koura district in Lebanon to the late Sleiman and Matilda Ghazi. She was fun loving, blessed with a beautiful smile, and was also an adventurer. She moved to the United States in 1978. She found her purpose and strength in caring for her family and serving her community and church. She returned to Lebanon as often as she could. Her visits there brought her strength and joy. Her cooking brought smiles to many. Her care and support for her loved ones made challenges surmountable. She taught her son and grandchildren how to love life and they will forever be grateful. Mrs. Azar is preceded in death by her husband George and survived by her son Habib, her daughter-in-law Carla and grandchildren Habib Jr. and Aziza, her sisters Nawal, Sabah, Julia, brothers Michael and George, and nieces Rajaa, Rola, Georgia, Andrea, Hala, Monia and Layla, and nephews Raji, Robert, George Jr, and Sleiman.
