Roger Mgrdichian, Sr (born Vrej Mgrdichian, 1929) died this Wednesday afternoon June 26 at 89 years old, surrounded by his family at Samaritan Center in Voorhees, NJ. He was born on Dec 17, 1929 in Philadelphia PA. He went to Northeast High School where he played football and joined the armed services as a lab technician on an Army ship. Upon discharge in 1950 he helped his parents Samuel and Yeranoohi open a tailor shop which they kept until the 1970s. Roger joined his brother George, playing in the Gomidas Band as a singer and dumbeg player. He married Anne Mosgofian in 1960 and had two boys, Roger and Mark, settling in northeast Philadelphia. He played music his whole life, while maintaining jobs in sheet metal manufacturing and car sales and continued working in auto parts delivery into his 80's until moving to Cherry Hill NJ to be near his beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Anne, Sister Joanne (John), sons Roger (Dena) and Mark (Tara), grandchildren Michael, Dena and Mariam.
Friends and family are welcome to attend his viewing at St Gregory the Illuminator Friday June 28, 10:00am, immediately followed by services at 11:00. Internment at Lawnview Cemetery, Rockledge (Phila)
