Alexander Skoures Obituary

Alexander Skoures, loving husband, father and grandfather received his final calling on July 29th, the exact day of his beloved wife Alexandra’s passing 4 short years ago. After spending 50 years together on this earth, “Alex and Alex” are joined once again, inseparable then as they are now. They were blessed with 2 adoring children Tina Maria and Evan, son in law Steve, daughter in law Brooke and 5 amazing grandchildren Kristen, Alexis, Alexander, Peyton and Sommer.

Alex passed serenely and quite fittingly outside in the garden. Throughout his life he had a special affinity for nature, where he felt truly at peace. He often preferred to spend his time outdoors rather than in. In addition to appreciating everyday spent on God’s green Earth, Alex simultaneously embraced science as a way to help humankind make discoveries to reach a heightened potential. He dedicated his life to achieving these objectives by working as a physicist for the Naval Air Development Center the entirety of his 50 year career. With degrees in electrical engineering, solid state and nuclear physics, he developed satellite as well as sonar communications systems so as to effectively be able to communicate through the air and under water. Alex was also instrumental in space travel, culminating with the USA’s first lunar landing. He took great pride in being one of the men on Earth responsible for putting men on the moon. Alex believed in science and technology helping mankind achieve greater heights and awareness. Alongside his pragmatism, he possessed a spiritual side which enabled him to reflect each day on the myriad gifts God bestowed on us. He was always humble, extremely grateful, approached each day with zeal and held to his conviction that we all have a singular purpose in life which is to help one another. Indeed, Alex’s special gift was his innate philosophical way of thinking that the best way to truly live is to be able to give back. Whether serving the church, assisting the township, volunteering for community affairs, or heralding technological advances for the amelioration of humanity, he made whatever he touched better. Alex dedicated himself and his life to making the world a finer place for us all.  May he rest in peace knowing how much he was respected, admired and quite simply adored.
