Alice Mary Bagdigian
April 18, 1926-June 27, 2025
Alice Bagdigian entered her eternal rest peacefully on June 27, 2025 at the age of 99. Born in Camden, NJ to Kapriel and Vartouhi Bagdigian, she was the older sister of Sirvart (Sue) Giragosian.
In her youth, the family moved to west Philadelphia, where their parents opened a small corner store in the front of their home. Alice helped her parents in the store, while also enjoying a successful secretarial career. Following her secretarial career, Alice had a rewarding career working as a home healthcare aide, travelling to patients’ homes and supporting their needs.
Throughout her life, Alice enjoyed being part of the Armenian community. She was a lifelong member of Saint Gregory’s Armenian Apostolic church and enjoyed attending Armenian banquets and dances with her sister, Sue, and many friends and relatives in her youth. As a young woman, Alice took great pride in her sense of style, and was meticulously outfitted with beautiful dresses, coordinated with lovely shoes, handbags and hats for these special events.
Following her father’s passing in the late 1950s, Alice remained in west Philadelphia with her mother through most of the 1960s, before the pair moved to Neshaminy, Pa and then to Medford, NJ. Following her mother’s passing in 1977, Alice returned to Philadelphia, where she resided independently until moving to St. John Neumann nursing facility, where she enjoyed her final years.
While she never married, Alice loved spending time with Sue and her husband Sarkis and their family, including nieces Lucy Momjian (Arthur), Linda Bohdjelian (Aram), grand-nieces Ani Kybert-Momjian (Nick) and Talene Momjian and grand-nephews, Peter and Gregory Bohdjelian. She also treasured meeting and hearing about the activities of her great-nieces and great nephew, Mia, Kate, Paige and Henry Kybert-Momjian. And, she enjoyed the extended family including in-laws, Rose Giragosian, Alice Bohdjelian and Mary Momjian.
Alice enjoyed reading and lifelong learning (including learning multiple languages); however, that became more difficult as she aged, having lost part of her vision to glaucoma. Alice was also an avid collector of many things, including coins, stamps, china, and other decorative objects. She enjoyed sharing these items with her family. Alice never arrived at anyone’s home for a visit without a gift of a collectible or a lovely basket of gourmet foods.
Alice is remembered by her family as an independent woman who smiled and laughed easily and who treasured them. While they are grateful for her long life, she will be missed.
