Anastasia Karavangelos Obituary

Anastasia Karavangelos passed away peacefully at Cape Regional Medical Center on Sunday February 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Velvento Kozanh Greece on February 15, 1945.  She is predeceased by her one and only love of her life Harry Karavangelos, her son George, her parents Harisios & Via Koskoura, her sister Anna Antikatzidou and her brothers Takh & Georgios Koskoura.

Anastasia (Mom) is survived by her four daughters Kathy Thomas (Eddie), Via Zampirri (Sall), Helen Avgerinos (Donny), and Haroula Rotondi (Jo).  She is also survived by her precious grandchildren Harry (Noelle), Salvy, Niki, Marko, Antwnh, Rowan, Marianna, Sam, & Anastasia.  She was also a great yia yia to her precious Elizabeth.

For those that knew Anastasia they were blessed with the gift of kindness, love, and honesty.  They understood and admired her love of her strong Greek Orthodox Faith & Greek heritage.  She carried God in her heart, her deeds & her words.  After marrying her husband Harry and coming from her small village in northern Greece to North Wildwood, she became a mother and homemaker.  She took pride in raising her children and working hard to become a successful business owner.  The Athens I and Athens II were operated by her.  Her customers were and continued to be her extended family.  Anastasia and Harry had lived the “American Dream” through hard work and dedication.

Anastasia took pleasure in watching her Greek channels on TV, cards with her family and friends, attending church on Sundays, and taking spontaneous trips with her friends.  Her greatest joy in life was watching her children and grandchildren flourish, guided by the values of love, faith and compassion she instilled in them.  Her only wish was for everyone to be together and take care of one another.

Friends and family are welcome to attend her viewing from 9am to 11am Monday, 2-19-2024, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 321 Saint Demetrios Ave, North Wildwood, NJ 08260. Her funeral service will be at 11am in the church.  Her interment will follow the funeral service at Cold Springs Presbyterian Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Demetrios Church.
