With deep love and gratitude for her beautiful life, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Anna Constantinou [nee, Macrogeane], on November 3, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on May 27, 1934, in Lancaster, PA, she was the cherished youngest daughter of Greek immigrants George and Calliope Macrogeane, from the island of Kos, Greece. She was raised in a home filled with faith, family, and tradition, alongside her dear sister, Katherine (Bob) Coustenis. They were part of a tight knit community of Greek immigrants in the middle of Amish Country. Anna grew up surrounded by her enormous extended family, including 52 first cousins, and enjoyed weekly gatherings to celebrate the many name days and holidays.
Anna met her husband, Gus, at a national GOYA convention in Memphis, TN. They shared 61 devoted years together and raised two daughters, Patricia (Mark) Berryman and Georganne (Greg) Lutz. Her example of faith, patience, and compassion served as the compass that guided how Patricia and Georganne raised their own children.
Anna’s greatest joy in life came from her family, especially her five treasured grandchildren, Dean, Alexander, Arianna, Evan, and Nicholas. They were truly the lights of her life. Nicholas often told his Mom that Yiayia was his favorite person. The truth is she was everyone’s favorite person.
A selfless and faithful servant of the Lord, Anna lived her life grounded in love, generosity, and devotion to her faith and church community. She enjoyed attending her weekly Bible study meetings and Sunday services with her Koumbari. Every September, she looked forward to the fun of making loukoumades dough for the Greek Affair.
Anna enjoyed her movie nights, performances at the Walnut Street Theater, and many lunches with friends. She loved a good shopping trip and a spontaneous visit to a casino for a few spins at the slots. Food was her love language. She delighted in planning holiday meals weeks in advance and made certain no one was left hungry.
Anna will be remembered for her boundless love, good humor, warm and generous heart, and unwavering devotion to her family and God.
A funeral service will be held at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 35 N. Malin Rd., Broomall, PA 19008 on Friday, November 7, 2025, viewing at 10am, funeral at 11am. Interment will follow at Arlington in Drexel Hill, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke in Anna’s memory.
