Apostolos Nares passed away peacefully on February 13, 2020. He was born in Sochos, Thessaloniki Greece to Christos and Katerina Nares. He was one of five siblings (Marianthi, Migdala, Eleni, and Axaina).
After serving in the Greek Army he decided to pursue his dreams and emigrate to the United States. Not knowing more than it was the land of opportunity he decided to leave the country and the people he loved to begin a new life.
In 1974 he purchased a plane ticket to New York City. Due to bad weather the plane was detoured to Buffalo. Upon arrival he picked up his suitcase and began his journey into his new life. Exiting the airport he was greeted by a blizzard and four feet of snow on the ground. He immediately went back to the ticket counter and purchased a ticket to Miami Beach. Spending 15 years in Miami he worked tirelessly to build a better life for himself and his family. There he met his wife of 45 years Elizabeth where they raised their two children.
He was an admirable example of persistence and strength of character.
Apostolos is survived by his wife Elizabeth, his two children Chris (Victoria), and Katerina (Evangelos) Ntounis and his grandchildren Apostolos and Elizabeth.
Friends and family are welcome to attend is viewing from 10am to 11am Tuesday, 2-18-20, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 229 Powell Rd, Upper Darby, Pa 19082.
