Aristidis Gouvias Obituary

Gouvias, Aristidis 10/15/1937 - 5/6/2020
It is with tremendous sadness we announce that our father Aristidis ( Ari ) Gouvias passed
away peacefully at his home in Broomall, PA on May 6th, 2020. He was born to Hristos and
Magdalene Gouvias in 1937 in Paramythia, Greece. After losing his father at the age of three,
he and his mother survived poverty and German occupation in Greece during World War II. At
the age of 15 he joined the Greek army where he served as a sergeant for eight years only to
leave in order to help his mother economically.
In 1964 he married his wife Vasiliki and lived in Igoumenitsa, Greece where they had two
children. In 1971 he immigrated to the United States where he became an accomplished
restaurateur and businessman for over 40 years.
Ari was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a hard-working man, a great role
model and teacher. He was strong in adversity and always an optimist who never gave up. He
fought Parkinson’s disease and other ailments for over 20 years and put up a great fight.
We are very thankful to have worked alongside him our whole lives and for that we have a
million memories that will live in our hearts forever. We love you Dad and you will always be
missed.
Aristidis is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Vasiliki , his sons Hristos (Chryssa) and
Konstantinos ( Vasiliki ). He is also survived by his pride and joy, his grandchildren Vasiliki,
Aristidis, Yianni, Sophia and Nefeli.
In light of the current situation funeral services for Aristidis will be limited to immediate family at
Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and he will be laid to rest at Saints Peter and Paul
Cemetery.
May his memory be eternal.
