Deborah Koutsiouroubas, a beloved teacher, mother, and Yia Yia, passed away on Aug 6. She was 68. Debbie, as her friends and family called her, was diagnosed with brain cancer in June of this year. Though a short battle, as with everything she did, it was fought with the utmost strength.
Debbie dedicated her life to educating, teaching at Stratford Friends School in Newtown Square for 25 years. Her importance to the community was shown during Debbie’s illness when she received dozens of cards from former and current students, as well as other teachers. She truly made a difference in people’s lives through her compassion for them.
Her care for others went beyond the classroom. She devoted herself to her family, raising her own children, her nieces and nephews and her grandchildren. Debbie was someone who always listened with an understanding ear and loved with a full heart. Anyone who knew Debbie was graced with her sheer positivity, vibrancy and beautiful smile no matter what she was facing. Anyone who knew Debbie was better for it. She is survived by her two children, Kari and KC; her grandchildren, Isabella, Johnny, Aubrey, and Julian; her siblings, Cindy, Karen, Rob and Ken; and her mother, Jane.
Family and friends are invited to her memorial service at 11am Saturday August 13, 2022 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2086 Parkview Avenue, Abington, PA 19001. Guests are invited to gather from 10:30am in the church.
