It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Schehl Jr. announce his passing on Tuesday, the 24th of September, 2024. He was surrounded with the comfort of his loving and devoted wife, Tracey, and family, after his courageous battle with a brain tumor. Ed will be forever remembered as someone that was always there for friend and family, helping whenever needed. For those lucky enough to have known Ed you knew he loved his alma mater, Upper Darby High class of 78, the Eagles, his pets, his Harley and his life with Tracey, who he was lucky enough to bump into at a local watering hole, the Burmont, in 1990 and 2 years later were wed. Besides being a member of the Carpenters Union for over 25 years, he was also a dedicated Garrettford-Drexel Hill firefighter and a 3rd Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He also worked part-time as a bartender at the Columbo Lodge and also Craig's Tavern where he was a favorite behind the bar. Ed also put a lot of time and energy as the operations manager at the Clifton Heights Swim Club. Then, in July of 2023, Ed was diagnosed with lung cancer and true to his warrior spirit successfully fought back until diagnosed with a brain tumor in June of 2024, begining another challenge. He continued to fight right up to the end - refusing to leave Tracey, his family, and his friends.
Born in Richmond Virginia, the son of Kathleen [nee Boerckel] and Edward Schehl Sr., Ed leaves behind his wife Tracey [nee Schor] Schehl, sister Ann Marie-Larry [Roselli], Colleen - Ben [Acchione] and sister Susan. Preceded in death by his brother Joseph, he leaves a living legacy behind with the many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews he loved. True to Ed unselfishness, his last act of giving was to donate his eyes so someone that never saw all the beauty and wonderment in the world would be able see, and thru his eyes.
A visitation will be held at Vraim Funeral Home, located at 66 S. State Rd. in Upper Darby, PA 19082, on October 4th from 8:30 am to 10am. His funeral mass will follow at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Drexel Hill at 10:30am. His interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken. In lieu of flowers please make any donations to SPCA in Media, PA.
