George Latsios Obituary

George Latsios was born on April 23, 1940 to Louis George and Helen Latsios (deceased) in Yeadon, PA, where he was raised and graduated from Yeadon High School in 1958.  Shortly after his high school graduation, his family moved to Havertown, PA, where George lived while he attended Pennsylvania Military College (PMC) which is now known as Widener University.  George graduated from PMC in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, majoring in Economics.  During his time at PMC, he was also a member of the Rifle Team where he was an expert marksman.  Shortly after graduating, George began working at Provident National Bank in Philadelphia, PA as the Loan Officer. He then moved on to Univac in Bala Cynwyd, PA, where he worked as the Human Resources Officer. George enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in 1963 and he served his country for six years.

In 1971, George, along with his brother John, opened Arrow Automatic Car Wash, Inc. at 124 West Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore, PA, which they owned and operated successfully for thirty nine years. The car wash became a favorite on the Main Line.  It was also that same year that he met his future wife, Barbara, at the Overbrook Country Club, in Radnor, PA.

George and Barbara married on August 29, 1976 at St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Cathedral in Philadelphia, PA where they were lifelong devoted members.  They had a full life together, traveling, socializing with their family and many friends and raising their only daughter, Cassandra Elena, born in 1991. They spent their time between the Main Line and Wildwood Crest, NJ where George loved relaxing, biking, walking the Boardwalk and eating out at his many favorite restaurants and diners. While he enjoyed spending time locally, George was happy to be able to take two family trips to Greece in 2016 and 2019 with his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and cousin Elpida.

When his daughter began figure skating in 1995, George, ever the doting dad, began spending a lot of time at the Skatium in Havertown, PA while his daughter trained. After his retirement from Arrow Automatic Car Wash, Inc., he became a part time employee of the Township of Haverford and worked at the Skatium until 2020. While at the ice rink, he enjoyed watching Cassandra become an accomplished figure skater and coach, as well as socializing with all the parents of the figure skaters and hockey players and Haverford Township employees, of which he knew many.

George was an active member of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) since 1970, an active member of St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Cathedral and was also active in the Greek community where he loved catching up with his lifelong friends at the many area festivals.

George will be greatly missed by his devoted and loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Lynn, his daughter and son-in-law, Cassandra and Ray McNulty, and his beautiful granddaughter Georgia Faith McNulty, who adored her Pappou. George was honored to have her as his namesake.  He is also survived by his brothers, John, James and Thomas; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Tom Hanney, his cousin Elpida Tahopoulos, and his many cousins, nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

George was a hard working, simple man who worked tirelessly for his family.  While in his youth he enjoyed traveling the world, in his later years, true to his Greek heritage, he needed nothing more than the love of his family, good food, drink and conversation, and a good book or the latest copy of The Wall Street Journal.

George passed peacefully at the age of 85 on Monday, May 5, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. May his Memory be Eternal.
