It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, George Manos, who left us on Saturday, July 27th at the age of 93. He was surrounded by those closest to him in his final moments. Born in Cephalonia, Greece on October 21, 1930, to Athanasios Michalitsianos and his mother Eftihia Livieratos Michalitianos, he Immigrated to America in 1951. Following the lead of his Uncle Nicholas from Nanticoke, PA, he shortened his last name to Manos. He settled in Philadelphia, married Chrisanthy Kapolas Manos, raised a family and became a restaurateur. He was one of 7 sons being survived only by his brother Spiro of Clearwater, Florida, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his daughter Effie Barnes (Gary), son John Manos (Graziella), son Arthur Manos, grandchildren Jennifer Adams (Jeremy), Brittany Barnes (Lil), Kimberly Barnes Bonitatibus (Mike), Amanda and John, along with his ex-wife Hilda Alicia and her children Anthony and Marlyn and grandchildren Ulysses, Anastasia, George, Hilda and Anthony. Finally, his great grandchildren Brody, Willa, and baby girl Bonitatibus coming in January of 2025. Dad was a man of immense pride and kindness. After his retirement from the restaurant business, he spent much of his time cooking fabulous Greek cuisine and sharing it with his friends and neighbors in his Drexel Hill community. In 2017, he moved to Sun City Center, Florida and stayed for 6 years before returning to Pennsylvania to live out the rest of his years in Kennett Square with those that loved and cared for him. While living with his daughter in The Flats of Kennett, he was immediately embraced by his “Flats Family” all of whom came to know and love him as well. Dad…Brother…Papou…friend…you will remain in our hearts forever.
