George Tahopoulos passed away peacefully at home on December 16, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was 86 year old. Born in Eratyra Kozanis, Greece, George came to America on a steamship in April 1955 to pursue the American dream. He worked his way through many restaurants/food establishments and in 1962, his hard work and determination paid off when he became a partner in his own restaurant at the Valley Forge Diner, and then in 1964, he took ownership of Boston Style Pizza in Wynnewood. George worked tirelessly in all his endeavors while providing for his family and at the end of 1980, he finally retired. His two sons, following in his footsteps, opened their own pizza restaurant, Verona Pizza, where George would always be found offering guidance and a helping hand. George spent his remaining years traveling with his wife and loving his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife Tassia. Loving sons Pete (Lisa) and Thom (and friend Mia). Devoted grandchildren George, Georgio, Athan, Demetrios, Adriana, and Joseph.
Friends and family are welcome to attend his viewing 10 am Tuesday, 12-22-2020, at St, Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 229 Powell Ln. Upper Darby, PA 19082. His Funeral service will follow at 11am.
