George Manuel Tsihlas of Philadelphia, PA, died on February 7, 2021 at the age of 88. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Effie (Karivalis). He was a loving father to Marietta (Margie) and Stefanos Kotridis, and Virginia (Gina) and John Varley. He was a proud papou to his grandchildren Maria Lieberman (Josh), John Varley (Amy), Stephanie Maslanik (Steve), Christina Kotridis (Steve) and also his great grandchildren Logan and Willow Lieberman.
George was a US Navy veteran who served his country honorably during the Korean War.
George was the founding proprietor of Towne Pizza at 19th and Pine St. in Philadelphia from 1967-1994. The restaurant was recognized multiple times for best pizza and hoagies in Philadelphia magazine during these years.
He was a proud member of St. George Cathedral throughout his life. He served tirelessly as a board member and president for multiple years. He was co-founder of the annual church festival and Friday lunches which provided monetary support to the church.

His Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 256 South 8th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
Viewing will be held from 10am - 11am at the church. Funeral service will begin at 11am.
Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery, 6501 Baltimore Ave., Lansdowne, PA 19050.
Friends and family are invited. Social distancing guidelines apply, and a face mask is mandatory to enter the church.
He will be truly missed but never forgotten.
