Harold “Hal” Parsons III, 61, passed away on October 5, surrounded by his wife, children, and mother. Hal was born in Salisbury, Maryland, and later in his childhood moved to Pennsylvania. Hal was a retired Sergeant of the Upper Darby Police Department. He preceded this career as a firefighter in both Woodlyn and Swarthmore and an HVAC technician for Swarthmore College. One of Hal’s biggest accomplishments was being a father. He would do anything for his children and did everything in his power to never let them fail. He also loved riding his motorcycle, especially on the Blue Ridge Parkway, as well as country music and smoking cigars.
He was a devout Catholic and regularly attended mass at St. Monica’s in Berwyn, PA. He was one of the kindest, most generous, most loyal men around. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it, and he did his best to put a smile on everyone’s face. Hal touched the lives and hearts of so many and will truly be missed. Hal is preceded in death by his first wife, Carol. He is survived by his children, Tory and Hal IV, his daughter-in-law, Jessica, his loving wife, Janet, his parents, Harold Jr., and Pat. As well as his brothers, Steve (Kelly) and Jeff A viewing will be held on Monday, October 11 from 6pm-9pm at Vraim Funeral Home in Upper Darby.
There will be another viewing on Tuesday, October 12 in the morning at 9:30am followed mass at 11am at St. Monica’s Church in Berwyn, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made to the Officer McNamara Fund. Please make checks payable to UDPDRA with a memo to McNamara Fund, 7236 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA. 19082. This fund was very close to Hal's heart.
