Helen Shaiko Obituary

Helen Cozanitis Shaiko of Bala Cynwyd, PA passed away on March 23, 2024, she was 92 years old. 

Beloved mother of Lisa Shaiko ( Eone De Souza) Elizabeth Ratchford ( Frank) and Nicholas Shaiko ( Audra).  Grandmother of Demetria, Luke, Alexander, Dean, Nicholas and Carina.  Helen is also survived by her brother Demetrious (Jimmy) Cozanitis and sister-in-law Rosalind Cozanitis.  

Helen was born April 7, 1931, in Philadelphia, and was raised in Kennett Square. She was the oldest of 5 children to Alexander and Elizabeth Cozanitis.  She graduated from Kennett Square High School in 1949 and attended Goldey Commercial College graduating with an Associate Degree in Arts in May 1952.  

She met her husband L. Nicholas Shaiko, Jr. In May of 1958. They married on March 8, 1959, and lived in Wynnewood where they raised their three children.  

Helen spent 32 years as an administrative assistant to the admissions office at Villanova Law School.  For those that knew Helen they were blessed with her gift of kindness and love.  She had a strong love of her Greek Orthodox faith and heritage.  A member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos for over 50 years she enjoyed volunteering serving on various committees.

Most of all she cherished her family, especially her 6 grandchildren. She adored them and whenever possible made it a point to see them and attend their milestones in life. 

The viewing will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Funeral to begin promptly at 11:00 AM. St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church 35 North Malin Road, Broomall, PA. 19008.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke Ladies Philoptochos. https://www.st-luke.org/
