Joann Karavassily Mitros, joined her heavenly family and entered into eternal life, at 96 years of age, on May 16, 2024.
Joann was born December 30, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pa. to proud immigrant parents from Greece.
Her strong Greek heritage was very important in her life and family. They regularly attended the newly built St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church.
Joann was a lifetime learner and was blessed with many skills. She was a talented singer in her 20's and successfully released a studio demo of "Heart and Soul".
She was a self taught, accomplished seamstress for ten years, sewing for the Church and the community.
Her true passion was dog grooming, till she was 80 years old. Joann would tell you she never worked a day in those 30 years of dog grooming. She loved her dogs and would want to bring home any and all strays if she could . Joann had a heart of gold who was loving, and caring. Her laughter and forever positive spirit defined Joann.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Apostalas Karavassily and Rodanthe Foto Karavassily; brother, Basily (Bill) Karavassily, and sister, Elizabeth Pappas.
She is survived by her daughters: Elaine Kosty and Rodanthe Lengle, son, Dr.Thomas Mitros, wife, Karen Worek Mitros.
Grandchildren: Jonathan Kosty, and wife, Viviane Kosty, Dr. Jennifer Kosty, husband Ryan Russell, Larry Mitros, wife Lindsey Borda Mitros, Tom Mitros, and wife Jenna Mitros.
Great grandchildren: Annie Russell, Johnny Lane Russell, Naomi Elena Kosty, Sophia Mitros, Anthony Mitros, Rocco Mitros, Violet Mitros, and Nolan Mitros. And forever grateful to Rudi Trevino, for her loving care the last two years of her life. As well as many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

A visitation will be held Tuesday May 28, 2024 from 10:30-11 am at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 35 N. Malin Road, Broomall, PA 19008. Her funeral service will begin promptly at 11am. Interment will follow at Fernwood Cemetery, Lansdowne, PA.
