John Howard Flite
March 17, 1945 – May 9, 2025
John Howard Flite, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away peacefully on May 9th, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born on March 17, 1945, Mr. Flite lived a life of integrity, service, and dedication. He honorably served his country as a Vietnam War veteran, exemplifying courage and steadfastness. Upon returning home, he embarked on a long and successful career with Acme Markets, where he was a valued and respected employee for many years.
A strong advocate for education and personal development, Mr. Flite pursued academic studies at Pierce College, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and Saint Joseph’s University
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Eloise Flite, son John Flite , (Amy Flite) brothers Frank Flite(Carol Flite) Richard Flite, and James Flite.
John was survived by his beloved wife, Marie Flite (née Ewing), and his siblings Maryjane Smalley (Carl Smalley) , David Flite (Kate Flite), sisters in law Barbra Flite, and Sharron Flite. He is survived by his loving daughters: Amy Flite , Donna Flite-McCauley (Hugh McCauley ), and Debra Flite-Purcell (Michael Purcell). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Rosemary Roth (Michael Roth), Ross Hopkins, Gabriel Flite, Grace Purcell, Leo Hopkins, Michael Purcell, Courtney Hoffman (Alex Hoffman), Hugh McCauley Jr., and Caitlin McCauley.
He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
John was an avid collector with a lifelong interest in coins, stamps, and sports memorabilia. His appreciation for history and craftsmanship was reflected in the care and enthusiasm he brought to his collections.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Vraim Funeral Home, 66 S. State Rd, Upper Darby, PA 19082 .A memorial service honoring his life will begin at 11:30am at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The American Legion post 667 care of Frank McGovern, Commander 1112 Steel Rd. Havertown PA 19083 for recognition of his military service and enduring support for veterans.
John will be remembered with love, admiration, and gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
