Mary "Hora Kouyre", truly enjoyed cooking our Armenian heritage culture foods, from soups to desserts..... she was Superb in all aspects of dishes. She learned from the best teachers in the family her mother Vartouhie ( Lussinian-- Igidbashian), and her aunt Sofie " Kergin" ( Lussinian & Vaghenag L. Uncle also expert cook). The kitchen was her theater and stage, SHE was the Conductor and Directed... singing, humming along as she cooked away with passion and Zeal, always in delicious outcome, of course Uncle "Shant" enjoyed, approved in glory!! Even in her physically deformed stature she remained active in the kitchen like a " Ballerina" slowly pushing thru her many physical areas of pain.
Mary had an impressive artistic talents in oil painting of nature and floral scenes. Mary was skilled in assembling beautiful floral real, and silk arrangements. In addition, Mary had a natural " Green Thumb" gardening was a must; indoors she had a " Magical" way of cultivating " African Violets" of many colors and sizes large groupings with great success, which is very difficult to grow and thrive. Mary had an amazing eye for the colors within the "four seasons" of the calendar, shared often admiring outdoors driving,or thru a window Earth's Natural colorful Beauty. She was a professional seamstress, one of her great talents was to do "Invisible mending" which is hard on the eyes, "( such as surgery on fabric)". Our aunt Mary " Hora Kouyre" was a resilient, strong willed lady....through out the last couple of years she faced multiple medical issues, with each condition and circumstance she has conquered in deep strength and endurance. Time and time again close tragically, but by the grace of God, in her determination she overcame triumphantly, she was always self driven to get past any hurdle that would have been in her way. Even thru the last 30 days of her life with "Covid--19 " aware of her medical status & of a global virus she understood thru our talks and TV. news; Aware of the huge lock down... She expressed in her loudest voice to go back to her safe place of comfort. Our aunt Mary persevered with all her great might..SHE clearly new & Voiced openly to be rescued with NO Avail.
