Mary Parris passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023 at the age of 88.
A native of Kensington in Philadelphia, she was a friend to many, endearing them with her conversation and sharp wit. She was a first-generation American and devout Greek Orthodox Christian, active in her church. An educated bookkeeper, she spent 40 years of her career with Kulzer Roofing, Inc.
One of Mary’s most important roles was as a devoted caregiver to her parents. She helped them make meaningful trips to the Holy Land and Greece, and she made a home for them at the family’s favorite beach, Wildwood. She collected and treasured family stories and readily shared them with others.
Mary was a mother to her little dog, Kukla, and an avid gardener of roses and vegetables. She especially loved chocolate and coffee, old movies, murder mysteries, crossword puzzles, needlework, and time at her beach home.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, William and Olga Chrisoulis Parris; brothers, Gus and Nicholas Parris; sister-in-law, Kathryn Christofas Parris; and great-nieces, Grace Thompson Walker and Catherine Parris Walker.
She is survived by her niece, Anna Parris Walker (Bob); great-niece, Caroline Parris Walker; and great-nephew, John Robert “Jack” Walker, V.
