Maria "Mary" Zafiropoulos (nee Mackrides), age 84, of Hobe Sound, Florida, formerly of Springfield, Pennsylvania, peacefully ascended to heaven on June 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on March 6, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mary was a loved daughter of Harry and Despina Mackrides. She lived a life defined by love, faith, kindness, generosity, and devotion to her family. Her warm spirit, unwavering strength, and caring heart touched all who knew her.
Mary shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, John Zafiropoulos. Together, they built a loving family and created countless memories that will be treasured for generations.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John Zafiropoulos; her siblings, Sue Corialos and her husband, Gregory Corialos, William Mackrides, and Trephone Mackrides; her children, George Zafiropoulos and his wife, Jacqueline Mraz, Christina Kaltsidis and her husband, George Kaltsidis, and Deborah Zafiropoulos. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Anne (nee Doucas) Mackrides.
Mary was a proud and loving grandmother to Maria and Victoria Kaltsidis and Gia and Armani Zafiropoulos, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Mary's greatest happiness came from spending time with her family and friends while celebrating life's milestones, and sharing her love, wisdom, and faith with those around her. She will be remembered for her gentle nature, adventurous humor, unwavering devotion to her family, dedication in pursuit of community wellbeing and nurturing the development of youth through and the enduring example she set through a life well lived.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Monday, June 15, 2026, commencing at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 35 N. Malin Road, Broomall, Pennsylvania 19008. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Group of St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church.
Mary's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
