Michael Thomas Dockery
August 27, 1954-November 01, 2023
On a beautiful Autumn afternoon, surrounded by his loved ones, “Mike” bravely said his final farewell and went to eternal rest. His battle with cancer concluded under the compassionate care of his doctors and the ICU team at Taylor Hospital in Delaware County.
Mike was the first-born son of Jane and Tom Dockery. Born to a military family, he lived in many various places in the greater Philadelphia Area and Delaware County. He enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1972. Upon discharge of his military service as a Missile Systems Analyst, he returned home to start a family with the love of his life, Diane. Mike then entered civil service as an Electronic Mechanic Apprentice at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. He retired from NAVSEA as a GS 13. He was passionate about his career and would light up whenever he had the opportunity to discuss his work and the trips he made from the Atlantic to the Pacific via submarine. Most of all, Mike was a caring, loving husband and father, and an important father figure to his grandchildren, and siblings. His kind and generous spirit had an impact and blessed many.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother Jane and stepfather Jack Brumbaugh, also his father Tom. He is survived by his wife, Diane, his 3 children, John (Jen), Dana, and Michael (Megan), his ten grandchildren, Johnny, Tyler, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Michael, Lucas, Riley, Hailey, and Ariana, his 2 Great grandchildren Novalee, and Oliver, his 3 siblings, Cathy, Jim, and Sandra, and his nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 11:00am-12:30pm, on November 9th, at Vriam, Funeral Home, Inc., 66 S. State Rd., Upper Darby, 19082. Funeral Service will be at 12:30pm at the funeral home.
