Michael T. McGinnis

Michael "Mac" McGinnis, age 73 of Drexel Hill, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Coatesville, PAMichael was born on March 24, 1947, to James and Margaret McGinnis of Drexel Hill.

Mac is survived by his wife Bonnie (nee Mayer), children, Tracy (Stephen) Kurman, Michael (Kristi), Patrick, and Colleen (Dave).  Grandchildren, Joshua, Kaela, Vince, Ashley, Gianna, Carter, Cameron, and Logan. Siblings, Kathleen Maphis, Roseanne Perry, and Peggy (Paul) Petrongolo.   Preceded in passing by his son Thomas A. McGinnis and brother, James McGinnis.

Mac's personality, heart and generosity was larger than life.  He had a profound impact on all he who knew him.  Mac proudly served his country as a United States Marine.  He served two tours in Vietnam from 1964 to 1968  He was award the Bronze Star with Valor, Purple Heart with Gold Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Presidential Unit Commendation Ribbon, Combat Action Ribbon, USMC Rifle/Marksman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and two Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation.

Mac’s passion for his community was immeasurable.  For many years Mac spent his time as a devoted and dedicated coach.

He put his heart into coaching Drexel Hill Raiders Football and Wrestling and Archbishop Carroll High School wrestling. 

Family and friends are invited to view Thursday October 29, 2020 from 10-12 noon at Vraim Funeral Home, 66 South State Road, Upper Darby, PA. 19082. His funeral service will begin at 12 noon in the Funeral Home. Interment in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. 19064. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in MAC's honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or  Wounded Warriors Project  at the addresses below.
