Noel Zeibari Obituary

Noel Joseph Zeibari passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023 at his home in Swarthmore, PA. Noel was born on Christmas day, December 25th 1929 in Nazareth, Palestine. The fourth born of Toros and Takouhi Zeibari's nine children, Noel grew up working in his father's garage along with his brothers, learning the mechanics' trade.  Noel's skill as a mechanic would sustain his family throughout his lifetime.

In the early 1950's Noel went to work in Beirut, Lebanon for Bosch, to help relocate his family from Israel to Lebanon. Noel, his sister Nevart and brother Edmond emigrated to the United States November 5th 1956. Noel continued his career as a mechanic, once again helping his family emigrate, this time to the United States.  Over the years, Noel advanced to the position of Chief Mechanic, overseeing a fleet of trucks for a large, East Coast fuel oil distributor.  He continued in this position for many years until retirement.  Noel was never one to sit still. He decided to launch his second career post retirement driving school buses for the Upper Darby School District. He had many fond memories of the kids on his regular bus routes.

Noel's hobby, ham radio, became his passion. He taught himself morse code, self-studied and passed every ham radio licensing test to achieve the highest licensure available from the FCC, the Amateur Extra class.  He was a member of the Marple Newtown Ham Radio Club for many years and participated in their annual Field Day contests as their chief morse code operator. A voracious reader, tinkerer, and inventor, he designed and fabricated his own tools when what he needed for a task wasn't commercially available, automated his ham radio shack using computers and was the family "go to" Mr. Fix It when something broke down or stopped working.

Noel was devoted to his family, faith and Armenian community. He enjoyed attending community events at all of the Armenian churches in the Philadelphia area and the Armenian Sisters Academy.

Noel is survived by his three children, Ani Zeibari Diakatos (Harry), Greg Zeibari (Arlet) and Ara Zeibarian, and his four grandchildren, Tony, Armand, Lilia, and Eleni. Noel is also survived by his three remaining siblings Mary Balian, Josephine Davidian and Zohrab Zeibari and his nieces and nephews.
