Odissefs Poursanidis

Odissefs Poursanidis was born on January 20, 1932 in the small village of Parohthion, Kilkis in the north region of Greece. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Christos and Parthena and his two brothers (Pelopidas & Haralambos). Surviving are his beloved wife, Nazlou, his daughters Roula (Pavlo) Matsiris, Erietta (Kosmas) Fotiadis and his son Haralambos “Bobby” (Trisha) Poursanidis, five grandchildren; Donna (Stamatis), Haralambos (Eleni), Anna (Jerry), Paul & Alex as well as three great grandchildren (Erietta, Kosmas & Chloe). His surviving three sisters (Maria, Antromahi & Eirini) live in Greece.

Odissefs's early life was challenging as he had to work hard in the fields from an early age in order to help his two parents who raised livestock. Sadly, such responsibilities denied him of a formal education. Most traumatic of his young life, he survived the mass kidnapping of children during the civil war in Greece; a painful experience that stayed with him until the day he passed. 

At the age of 23, he married Nazlou and had three children. Odissefs worked very hard in home construction and eventually opened his own small construction company. He took great pride in his family and his role as a father. As his children reached teenage years he embraced the opportunity to immigrate to the United States in order to offer his children a quality education and a brighter future. 

Odissefs continued his hard work ethic alongside his devoted wife Nazlou as they became the owners of a Food Truck that served the Drexel University students breakfast, lunch and dinner for over eight years. They eventually moved back to the city of Thessaloniki in their beloved home country. After retirement, they spent time in Greece and U.S. before finally settling back in the U.S. to enjoy their lives with their three children, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren!

Odissefs has been his children's greatest pride for his hard work ethic, his devotion to his loving family and his fearlessness in the face of life's challenges. His family will miss him deeply and hold him forever in their hearts. May your memory be eternal Odissefs!
