Presbytera Elizabeth Limberakis Obituary

Presvytera Elizabeth (Constantine) Limberakis peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on February 25th. She was 93 years of age. Loving and devoted wife to Father John A. Limberakis, of blessed memory, she was the mother of four children: Evangelyn, who predeceased her, Cary (Alexis), Anthony (Maria) and Catherine (James); grandmother to Alyssa, Jaclyn, Jonathan and Kyra Limberakis; John, Anthony and Elizabeth Limberakis; and Andrea, John and Peter Tsatalis, as well as great-grandmother to Peter, Alexia and Jack, Dakota and Anthony, Evangeline and Anthony.

Mrs. Limberakis was the daughter of Kyriakos and Erasmia Constantine and younger sister to Jim (Mary) Constantine and Despina (John) Yannacakis, all of whom predeceased her. She was a native of Los Angeles, CA prior to her marrying Father John.

Presvytera, a title of honor referring to a priest’s wife, is an important presence in the parish, and Mrs. Limberakis exemplified this title in each of the parishes her husband served, St. George in Fresno, CA, Annunciation in Cranston, RI, Annunciation in Elkins Park, PA and St. Sophia, Sts. Faith, Hope and Agape in Jeffersonville, PA, all Greek Orthodox communities. She was dearly loved and respected by all who knew and served with her in parish activities and organizations. In addition to her dedication to the Orthodox Church, she worked for many years in each of her sons’ dental and medical offices, providing administrative support as they launched their practices. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, for whom she provided significant caregiving in their early years. She loved music, classic films, and singing, and was an excellent cook and baker who loved hosting her family for holidays and festive occasions.

With Father John and Presvytera Elizabeth leading groups of pilgrims, as well as their children and grandchildren, they traveled to the Holy Land to visit Christian landmarks and shrines and were all baptized in the River Jordan.

Funeral services, according to Greek Orthodox tradition, will take place on Friday, March 3rd, at the St. Sophia, Sts. Faith, Hope and Agape Greek Orthodox Church. 900 S. Trooper Road in Jeffersonville, with visitation from 9-11am immediately followed by the funeral sacrament, presided by His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia. Interment will be at Lawnview Cemetery in Rockledge, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 900 S. Trooper Road, Jeffersonville, PA 19403 or to the Church of the Annunciation, 7921 Old York Road, Elkins Park, PA 19027.

We are asking that you plan to drive on your own to the cemetery.  We will not have a funeral procession due to the traffic in the area and the distance to the cemetery from St. Sophia.  Funeral processions in these scenerios are extremely dangerous.  We thank you in advance for your ccooperation and understanding.
