Ronald David Ashby, Esq, a loving son, brother, husband, father and Papou passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25th, 2024 surrounded by family.
Ronald was born on November 16th,1946 and grew up in Chester, Pennsylvania. After high school, he worked a series of jobs before attending Widener University, where he graduated in just three years. He went on to pursue his passion of becoming a lawyer at Samford University. It was there Ron co-founded the American Journal of Trial Advocacy. Following law school, Ronald returned to Delaware County to begin his practice of law, and subsequently passed both the Pennsylvania and Florida bars.
Ronald dedicated his life to helping others. He made an impact on hundreds of clients during his 40 plus years in practice. An involved member of his community, Ron spent decades coaching the St. Luke’s basketball team and manning the hot dog stand during the annual Greek Affair. He volunteered to help assist aspiring students including working with mock trial programs he loved during his own educational pursuits. A hard worker and driven attorney, Ron still never missed the opportunity to support his children, whether that was a 6am hockey practice, mid-day swim meet, random phone call or far-flung drive. Whatever they needed, he was there.
He had a zest for life and the beauty that could be found if you just looked a little closer. Over the years, Ron honed his photography skills on various trips and was known to seek out the perfect sunset or blooming rose. He proudly displayed his photography and continuously looked for ways to refine his abilities.
Ron is survived by his three children – Nia (Adam) Green, Courtney (John) Schwartz, and Ryan (Brittany Lala) Ashby in addition to his four grandchildren, Parker, Kinsley, and Grayson Green, and Tripp Schwartz. He is also survived by his brother, Michael and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandi, along with his parents, Edward and Alice Ashby, and brothers Edward Ashby Jr. and John Ashby.
Friends and family are welcome to attend his visitation from 10am-11am Monday, November 4, 2024 at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 25 N. Malin Road, Broomall, PA 19008. His funeral service will immediately follow at 11am. His interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the City Team Chester, Pennsylvania.
