Rosa Kahvedjian
(1921-2018)
Born in Urfa, on December 24, 1921. The first child of Bedros and Noyemzar Der Bedrossian, survivors of the 1915 Armenian Genocide.
She attended Haygazian Armenian School then the Jean D'Arc Armeinian Sister's school in Aleppo.
In 1942 she marries Avak Kahvedjian, a compatriot from Urfa and settle in Beirut, Lebanon, where they are blessed with four children, Bedig, Sella, Ara & Rima.
While vacationing in Philadelphia in 1976, she loses her beloved husband and stays in Philadelphia thereafter where her sisters reside.
Rosa has been involved serving the Armenian community.
- She was an ARS active member both in Lebanon and Philadelphia.
Also a member in Ladies auxiliary of Saint Nishan-Armenian Apostolic church in Beirut and Armenian Sister's Academy in Philadelphia.
She had unconditional love, known as Rosa mama to her grand children and Rosa “morakouyr” to the rest.
An avid reader, and a good story teller will be missed by all.
She is survived by her 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 8 greatgrand children.
She passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the age of 97.
