Rose Bidoyan Obituary

In Loving Memory of Pourastan (Rose, Rosie) Bidoyan.

Rose (née Odabashian) Bidoyan, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully passed away on April 27, 2024, at the age of 91. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that are forever imprinted in the hearts of those who knew her.

She was born on March 28, 1933, in Haifa, Israel to Siranoush (née Avedikian) and Simpat Odabashian. Rose married her husband John Bidoyan on August 21, 1959, and they were blessed with two daughters, Maria (Mark) Hackett and Lillian (Edward) Burg. The family immigrated to the United States in 1969, where they set their roots in Upper Darby and made way for a new life alongside their extended family.

With her daughters, Rose is also survived by her siblings, Mesrob (Grace), Vahram, and Zorab (Shake), and beloved nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband John, and brother Sahag (Emasd) Odabashian.

Rose’s life journey was marked by a strong will, amusing sense of humor, deep love of family, and faith in God. She was full of life, enjoyed her colorful cocktails, and had an adventurous spirit that took her on fun journeys with her daughters. She was unapologetic of her love of wrestling and a good soap opera. Cooking was her love language and her sarmas, boregs, kuftes, lahmajouns, and maamouls are legendary.

As a grandmother, Rose adored, cared for, and spoiled her grandchildren: Zachary (Stephanie), Thomas, Brandon, and Jessica. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent together with them.

Two years ago, Rose was tickled to welcome into the world and her heart, her great-grandson, Bruce, and was delighted to know that a great-grand-daughter is on her way.

Rose’s vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Though she may have bid farewell to this world, her memory will live eternally in the hearts of those she loved.

A service to honor Rose’s life will be held at St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 630 Clothier Road, Wynnewood, PA 19096, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, immediately followed by her funeral service.
