Shelley Upsher Konidaris, age 94, of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 5, 2026, at 10:20 p.m., with her family by her side.
Shelley’s beautiful walk through life began on June 18, 1931 in her hometown of New York City. She was a loving daughter to Ella Julia Schumacher and Milton Upsher, and the sister to Michael Upsher.
Shelley’s path then took her to attending New York University exploring the studies of education. She finished her academic journey by graduating from the esteemed University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Her walk of life brought her passions as both a beautiful actress and intelligent interior designer. Intertwining style and imagination to everything she pursued.
Shelley’s journey led her to marrying the love of her life and partner for 43 years, Athanasios Konidaris. They walked side by side enjoying nights at their beloved restaurant Zesty’s in Manayunk Philadelphia. She gave her heart to being a wife, mother, stepmother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Athanasios Konidaris; her three sons, David Lubin, Edward Lubin, and Daniel Lubin; her three stepchildren, Xaralambos (Robert) Konidaris, Konstantina Konidaris-Watson, and Sophia Konidaris-Wakefield; and her cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie, Juliette, Robert, John, Emily, Stephen, Athanasios, Nikolis, Sean, and Lyla.
Shelley’s light shined brightly while watching the opera and ballet in New York City. Her passions of ballroom dancing and singing made people who watched move with emotion. Her elegance through her journey of life spread to the people she loved. Her adoration to her parrot, Pepe, cats, and dogs gave her companionship that was unconditional.
Shelley will always be remembered in people’s hearts through her creativity, sophistication, and devotion to her family and husband. The beauty and grace she gave to the world will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Though her time on this Earth has come to an end, it will never be over, and Shelley Upsher Konidaris will always live on in people’s hearts.
