Sofia was born on June 27, 1925, in Drama, Greece. She grew up in the city of Thessaloniki, where she met her husband, Demetrios Bourdis, a chief in the Hellenic police department. In 1969, she uprooted her life to move to the United States, joining her mother and brothers, who had previously immigrated. She settled with her husband and daughter in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Sofia lovingly helped raise her granddaughters, Christina and Sophia, while her daughter, Maria, pursued her education and career. She deeply cherished her Greek Orthodox faith, family, home, and friends. Sofia also enjoyed reading, baking, and traveling with her family throughout Greece’s picturesque landscapes. Over the course of her life, she retained her lively spirit, sense of humor, and love of music and dance.
Sofia was preceded in death by her parents, Miltiades and Maria Davidis (nee Miades), husband Demetrios, and sister, Ellie. She is survived by her daughter Maria Bourdis, grandchildren Sophia Tsakiris (Christos) and Christina Tsakiris Josephs (Lee), great-grandchildren Thomas Ristas and Marilena Ristas, and brothers Konstantinos Davidis and Eric Davidis (Nicole).
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 10:30-11:30 am at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church at 30 E Forge Rd, Media, PA 19063.
