1932-2021
Sophia Trellopoulos passed away peacefully on February 20th 2021 after a long battle with dementia. Born June 10th 1932 in Souhoumi USSR, to Giorgos and Maria Halkidis, her family moved to Greece where she married her late husband Efthimios. Together with their four children they immigrated to the United States in 1969.
While being a loving mother and wife, she also worked two jobs for the majority of her life with her main job being a seamstress. The matriarch of the family; she was a remarkably hard working woman who would sacrifice anything to ensure their happiness and success. She continued her love for family by helping raise her grandchildren and even her great grandchildren. Some of our fondest memories were going to her house after church on Sundays to eat her fresh baked bread and avgolemono soup, our visits to the horafi (farm) in Katerini to pick fountoukia (hazelnuts) and fruit, or simply her showering us with love and attention. She was a proud Pontian, loved knitting, and showing off her unmatched green thumb with her beautiful gardens but most importantly she loved life. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and we will always love and cherish every moment and memory we had with her.
She is predeceased by her parents, four siblings and her husband but she is also survived by her children Eleni Andritsos, Anatoli Tasiopoulos, Panaila Papadopoulos (husband Tom) and Haralambos Trelopoulos (wife Christina), her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
