Spyros W. Tsokas of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania passed away Monday, December 19, 2022. He was 92 years old. Spyros was born November 9, 1930 in Epirus Greece, the youngest child of the late Vasilios and Paraskevi Tsokas. He is brother to the late Dimitris and Michael Tsokas. Spyros is the beloved husband to the late Gloria married for 65 years and father of five loving daughters, Mary Mulcahy (Wayne), Athena Chapel (Randy), Gloria Johnson (Bill), Lorraine Tsokas, and Kathy Tsokas-Moore (Kevin). He is the adored grandfather of Andrew Mulcahy (Erica), Laura Kemmerer (Michael), Matthew Mulcahy, Kyle (Stephanie) and Michael Chapel, Billy and Becky Johnson, and Sarah Moore. Spyros is the loving great grandfather of Lucas, Alex and Amelia Kemmerer, Nora and Claire Mulcahy.
Spyros was born and raised in Sitaria, Epirus, Greece. He immigrated to the United States February 14, 1948. He met Gloria at a dance in center city Philadelphia, and they never stopped dancing. They fell in love and were married in 1953. Spyros was a devoted family man and with Gloria they built a family full of love and care.
Spyros served in the Korean War, US Army. He worked for RCA for 50+ years as an electrical engineer working on the Aegis project and building HDTV. Even after retirement he continued to enjoyed working with anything electrical, building and understanding how things operated. He was active in many church activities as a board member, a Sunday school teacher, and a leader of the Greek Orthodox Youth Association.
Spyros loved the mountains whether in Epirus, Greece or Montrose, PA. He enjoyed both countries, taking care of homes and the land. With Gloria by his side, he renovated his family home in Greece and built with his own hands a home in Montrose, PA. Spyros loved working the land, gardening, pruning fruit trees and grafting grapes and olives. He continued traveling every year to his native Greece.
Most of all, Spyros loved his wife and family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family pets.
Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing for Spyros on Friday, December 30th, 2022, 10 to 11am with the funeral service immediately following at St George Greek Orthodox Cathedral 256 South 8th Street, Philadelphia PA 19107.
