Stamatia Giannakos

Stamatia Giannakos, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was born on March 22, 1930, in Chios, Greece. She passed away peacefully at her home in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, on Friday, January 9, 2026. She was 95 years old.

In the 1950s, Stamatia (lovingly known as Titika,) immigrated to the United States in search of a better life, carrying with her a strong work ethic. A seamstress throughout her life, she found great joy in sewing clothes for her granddaughters and great-grandchildren, a labor of love that reflected her true calling. She also enjoyed gardening, finding peace and purpose in the spring blooms.

Stamatia lived a full life marked by heartache, love, and joy. She treasured her travels, especially her trips to Greece to visit her sisters, as well as her visits to the Showboat and Harrah's Casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Above all, she valued a good time spent with family and friends.

She is survived by her family in Greece; her devoted daughter, Efthemia; her granddaughters, Kaliopi and Despina (Shane); and her five great-grandchildren: Joshua, Brianna, Shane, Despina, and Markella. She is also remembered by friends and neighbors who loved her dearly.

Services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby. Viewing at 11am. Services at 12pm. Immediately followed by a graveside burial at Fernwood Cemetery on Baltimore Ave. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Titikas life at Casey's in Drexel Hill immediately following the burial.
