Varuzhan Kuredjian Obituary

Sadly, Varuzhan Kuredjian passed away on Saturday morning, four days before his 85th birthday. Varuzhan was born in Beirut, Lebanon to Hovagim and Dikranouhie Kuredjian. In 1945, the family emigrated to Yerevan, Armenia to live in the motherland. When they got there, much to their surprise, they found poverty and heartache. Soon, Varuzhan found himself, along with his older brother, trying to find bread and whatever food they could muster to help support the family of seven.  Though school was not his forte, Varuzhan chose to go to vocational school and learn to become a welder.  When Varuzhan turned 18, he was drafted by the Soviet Army. He enjoyed telling the boundless stories of his time in the service, which were always entertaining.  in their youth, the two older brothers also ran an autobody shop out of their home under the watchful eye of the communist party. When he was 25, he met and married Lusin Abelian and together they had three children, Marine (Hagop), Dikranouhi (Steven) and Hovagim (Erin). In 1977, the extended Kuredjian Family emigrated to the United States and settled in Philadelphia, PA where Varuzhan’s uncle lived.  Varuzhan got a job at Trent, inc. where he worked happily for 14 years but was forced to stop due to medical reasons. However, this didn’t stop him from going forward and living his life to the fullest which included surrounding himself with his children, their spouses and eventually the joys of his life, his precious eight grandchildren, Carolena, Valentina, Haroutiun, Adam, Aila, Luciana, Isabell, and Giovonni (aka mini Varuzh).  Varuzhan dedicated his life to being a great husband, a wonderful and tough father, and a doting grandfather. He was full of life and energy. He was the pillar of our family and he was larger than life. He enjoyed making shish kebob, playing cards. and tavloo, but he enjoyed winning most of all. He will always be remembered for his huge heart, generosity and love of life. We will miss you Dad... You will forever be in all of our hearts…WE LOVE YOU!
