Victoria Hoplamazian Obituary

Victoria Sarkisian Hoplamazian, 98, devoted and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. 

Victoria, born on March 24, 1924, in Watertown, MA, daughter of the late Melki and Mary Sarkisian. 

She went on to graduate from Watertown High School as valedictorian of her class and co-captain of the Field Hockey team. After graduating from high school, Victoria went on to study Political Science and Music at Radcliffe College. 

In 1944, she met Harry Hoplamazian, Sr., they courted during World War II and married on June 9, 1946. They were married for 31 years until Harry's death in 1977. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to her family, friends, and the Armenian communities of Boston and Philadelphia. She was a member of Radcliffe Alumni, the Ladies Guild of St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Armenian Church, and the Daughters of Vartan. She had a passion for music and was a talented pianist, world traveler, and student of art history. She had many interests and was an avid collector of antiques, books, art, and china. An excellent cook, Victoria took pride in feeding her family and passed her famously praised recipes of choreg, pilaf, and sou boreg on to her beloved family.

Victoria is predeceased by her husband Harry and sisters Agnes Muckjian, Gladys Matteosian, and Katherine Karapetyan. 

Victoria is survived by 5 children,13 grandchildren, and 6 great- grandchildren: her daughter, Marie Azadian (Migirdich) and their children Raffi (Gayane), Ani (Dale), Ronald (Jennifer), and Matthew (Shellie); her son, Harry (Veronica) and their children Colleen and Brian; her son Vaughn (Adrineh) and their children Alex, Anna (Gregory), and Amy; her daughter Diane; and her son Mark (Rachel) and their children Mara, Lena, and Leo. In addition to her 13 grandchildren, Victoria is survived by her great-grandchildren Tyler, Van, Armen, Alexis, Stella and Hazel.

Funeral services will be performed at St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Apostolic Armenian Apostolic Church, 630 Clothier Road, Wynnewood, PA,19096 on Tuesday morning, July 19th at 10:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. 

Memorial donations may be made to either St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church or Armenian Sisters Academy. Please reference Victoria Hoplamazian on the check.
