Virginia Anna (Mukhalian) Kashishian, 94 passed away peacefully at her home on New Year's eve afternoon, Sunday December 31st, 2023 entered into the gates of Heaven.
Virginia Was born in West Philadelphia to Sarkis Mukhalian and Aznive (Arzamanian) Mukhalian. She had one brother Jim who was 3 years older. Growing up Virginia attended the Armenian Martyr's Congregational Church which was located right near their home and attended Sunday school classes and participated in the Christian endeavor youth group. Virginia attended Shaw Junior High School. During that time she worked at the 5 and 10 store in center city where she would have to take the train to get there. Her mother also worked there. Virginia attended West Philadelphia High School and after graduating she took a job with Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator. Later while attending various Armenian dances, she met and married the love of her life, Richard. Together they had 4 beautiful children. In December of 1957 they moved from the city to King of Prussia and resided there till her passing. Virginia was a people person with a jovial personality. She was kind and generous and loved to dance, especially Armenian dancing! She was a devoted wife, mother and housewife, always living her life for her family unselfishly. She rarely ever complained about anything. She was always upbeat, personable and pleasant. She loved to read biographies of famous people.
She loved her flowers, especially her hibiscus plants and tended to them all the time in the spring and summer. Virginia also worked for years at the Upper Merion middle school and High School as a cashier selling the ice cream, milk and cookies etc. She was known to the children as the "snack lady." If the kids saw her out of the school, they would say there's the "snack lady."! Virginia was on a bowling league in the early years of her marriage. She always loved hanging out her wash on the close line and got real enjoyment out of it. She and her husband and children often took trips to Asbury Park, New Jersey in the 60s and then Atlantic City and then Ocean City. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard (Dick) of 57 years and survived by her children, Son Richard (Carol), Daughter Linda, Son Albert (Rose), Son James, grandson Jason (Kristen) and granddaughter Sophia and a great grandson Evan.
She is also predeceased by her brother, Frank James Mukhalian.
