Zinon Kazakis Obituary

Zino  Kazakis on July 31, 2025 was born in Velvento Greece on July 20, 1937.  In 1956, he made the long voyage to America by ship.  His Aunt Vaya had come to the U.S. many years before and had four children.  My dad had the privilege of getting to know his aunt Vaya and cousins- Zino, Eleni, Mary and Sophie.  They resided in Springfield PA.

When Zino arrived in the U.S, he started working at various jobs.  For many years, he painted numerous bridges in America.  He was a strong person and did not fear heights.

In 1959, Zino joined the first Greek soccer team in Philadelphia.  It was called  “Greek Stars”.  He played soccer with his teammates in many different  places through the years.

In 1970, Zino Kazakis went back to Greece and married Vasiliki Dalageorgiou.  In 1971, Zino and his wife returned to America, and their fraternal twin daughters were born.(Sophia and Genovefa Kazakis).

Then in 1982, after working man y years painting bridges, he then owned and operated Acropolis Pizza for 18 years.  His work reflected his character- Any job he did, he wanted to do it well.

Zino Kazakis was a loving and wonderful father.  He was proud of his Greek heritage, and he loved to communicate with Greek  friends and relatives.  He attended and was a member of St. Demetrious Greek Orthodox Church.  He will be missed by many.

Family and friends are invited to view on August 7, 2025 from 10-11am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 229 Powell Ln., Upper Darby, PA 19082.  His funeral service will begin promptly at 11am.  Interment to follow in Fernwood Cemetery, Lansdowne, PA 19050.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter http://alz.org/delval
