Zumrut (Proodian) Eloian

Zumrut Eloian (Proodian) passed away peacefully on January 6th 2025. She was born in Arapkir, Turkey in 1937. She came to the United States in 1958 to start a new life and prosper.  She married Ara Eloian in 1968 and they settled down in Marlton, New Jersey. She is preceded by her loving husband Ara Eloian and brother Kevork Proodian.  She is survived by her 2 children Ardis Eloian-Goodson (Rodney) and Jeffrey Eloian (Rikki Anne). Her 6 grandchildren Alex Goodson, Isabella, Maryna, Alexandra, Gabriela and Savanna Eloian. She is also survived by her loving sister-in-law Rosette Proodian and brother Sarkis.

Zumrut was a very caring and loving mother to her 2 children and husband. She came to the United States and became a seamstress. She was given the nickname “Zimmie” from her friends at work. Later in life she worked at the local high school in food services. She loved to cook Armenian food and entertain family and friends.  No one ever turned down an invitation to come to Zimmie’s and Ara’s house when Zimmie was cooking. You always left with a full belly. She loved spending time at the beach and going to the casinos with friends. She also loved helping to raise her grandchildren. Zumrut will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She lived a life full of love.

Friends and family are welcome to view from 9 - 9:30am Friday, January 10th 2025 at St. Gregory The Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church, 8701 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19128.  Her funeral service will begin promptly at 9:30am.  Interment to follow in Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
