John S. Doucas, 77, suddenly on Saturday  July 18, 2015 after spending a beautiful week in Ocean City, N.J. with his family. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he currently resided in Drexel Hill, Pa. with Carolyn his wife of 47 years. John served his country in the Army as a helicopter mechanic stationed in Huntsville, Al.

John was very active in the Greek community serving as a council member for St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Philadelphia and treasurer for St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby, Pa. He was a co-founder of the AHEPA Thermoplyae Chapter 445 in Upper Darby and also served as a District Governor for the AHEPA.

John was a co-owner of Old Penn Tavern in Center City Philadelphia. He then went on to found and own Dew-Kiss takeout in Drexel Hill, Pa. During that time he also ran the snack bar at Lansdowne Swim Club. He left the take out business to takeover and restore the Original Garrett Restaurant and Banquet Room. He enjoyed running the restaurant and starting up Harry's Famous Puddings. John left the restaurant to expand his pudding enterprise. He settled the pudding business in Glenolden, Pa.

He has always been an avid Eagles fan who frequented their home games and never missed a broadcast. He always hoped to see them win a Super Bowl.

John is survived by his loving wife Carolyn "nee" Solomon, his daughter Elena (Tommy) Aughey, sons Stephen (Julie) and Harry (Gina), his grandchildren John, Thomas, Alex, Kayla, Christina and Tyler, as well as brothers-in-law William Mackrides and George Kalaitzis.
