Belated condolences to Alex, Jamie, Joanna, and the entire Kontis family. Bessie played such a special role in my life - I am deeply saddened by this loss. I cannot express how good she was to me when I worked in the store as a teenager. I remember Bessie laughing off my sweeping skills (or lack thereof) and asking if 'those hands have ever cleaned anything.' They hadn't, and when she easily (and rightfully) could have been annoyed she smiled and told me not to worry. Bessie - I know you're in a better place now and my family and I will always remember and miss you.

Bessie was one of the first people we met when we moved here in 1991 with our toddler. A few months later, with baby #2 barely 3 days old and bundled in a snugli, we walked to New Wayne Pizza to get dinner. Bessie clasped her face with her hands - "How old is that baby!" and came around from behind the counter to get a peek. Her delight was real. Over the years she shared that same smile, laughter and joy of life over many take-outs. A special lady - we will truly miss her. Our condolences to the family.

Although far, I send my belated condolences to Alex and his two daughters and the families. My wife Hiromi and I were honored to have Bessie as our Koumbara (Matron of Honor) at our wedding in 1997. She now rests in peace along with my mother Marigo Bassounas who was a close friend of the family for many years.
In spite of your many difficulties, Bessie, you continued to give your smile to everyone and you will continue to be a shining light for many.
Rest in Peace, Bessie.

While we mourn the loss of our dear friend, we also celebrate and cherish the memories we shared...watching each others' kids grow to adults...cussing in Greek...offering each other an ear for listening and a shoulder to cry on...
Bessie, you were the Rock, the one your family could count on no matter what the situation. You touched our lives and we will miss you deeply.
This is not Goodbye, but Til We Meet Again.

It's with great sadness I received this news. Bessie was a mother to me and I loved her as one. I regret not keeping in touch more often as I should have. Bessie's passing is a loss for all of us; I will however always have wonderful memories. Bessie influenced my life and taught me what hard work is. Alex, Jamie and Joanna, I am praying for all three of you and hope you all know you will see your wife and mom again in heaven. With deepest sympathies, JoJo
